A Day in the Life
of a 3-8 Online student
Grade 3-5 Students
Students in grades 3-5 will be taught remotely by teachers working from the repurposed Aurora Century school building.
Students have synchronous learning every day with a teacher
Core content classes will be offered daily and Electives can rotate throughout the week
Logging into courses for attendance (not based on class work completion). Students should be counted for attendance if they attend class. It should not be based on turning in a particular number of assignments.
Time for asynchronous work built into the schedule (flexibility-every day or asynchronous day similar to this year on Fridays)
Students will have a homeroom teacher (to include 2nd Step SEL or another vetted curriculum for character development)
Subjects: Literacy (reading/writing), math, science, socials studies, ELD)
Scheduled small group reading groups with teachers every week (breakout groups)
Specials: Art, Music, STEM/Technology and PE/Wellness
SEL or another vetted APS curriculum for character development
Scheduled virtual office hours (instructional support) for students to receive help
Virtual tutoring opportunities (after school)
Leadership/Club/Activities offered virtually and in person opportunities throughout the year

Students in grades 6-8 will be taught remotely by teachers working from the repurposed repurposed Aurora Century school building.
Online H.S. Program Grades 9-12
Students in grades 9-12 will be taught remotely through the APS Avenues Program and not through the 3-8 Online Program.
Student logs into LMS / Schoology to assess updates and announcements for the day
Default schedule is asynchronous online and students can choose to have synchronous courses or a combination or both
ENGLISH, MATH, SS, SCI (CR via Edgenuity or Elective Coursework)
Logging into courses is their method for attendance
Students can work on coursework at any point during the day
Teachers can schedule appointments for support / virtual office hours
Tutoring in the evening if students are not showing success in asynchronous
Tutoring is a Tier 2 response to students struggling to be successful with Asynchronous work
Able to flex to Saturday tutoring sessions for intensive support tier 3
Flex students will follow the same attendance expectations as to in-person students.
Flex Students will engage in all of their classes remotely from home for a maximum of one quarter (1st quarter, or 2nd quarter only).
Flex students will engage in their learning along in-person peers in classrooms, but remotely.
Flex students will engage in all major content and elective classes alongside their in-person peers.
Flex students will receive the appropriate ESS, CLDE, mental health supports and academic intervention through remote learning.
Teachers who have flex students will be facilitating a hybrid model of teaching (both in-person students and remote students).
Schools will have an identified staff member to support flex students (scheduling, academic progress, parent communication).
